The Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) is a not-for-profit 501(c)6 association that represents approximately 350 businesses and 55,000 workers across twenty one counties in Upstate New York. We advocate for the growth and development of New York’s manufacturing sector, a critical component of the New York economy. About three-quarters of our members are directly engaged in manufacturing, while the remaining companies include financial institutions, engineering and law firms, and suppliers for manufacturers, all of which allow manufacturers to operate and continue to grow.

MACNY was founded in 1913 and is currently the largest association of manufacturers in NY, and the oldest in the nation. Our goal is to help lower costs, improve profitability, and increase competition with manufacturers throughout the world. In order to do so, we provide the tools, information, people, and resources necessary to make competition on all levels a possibility. Our portfolio of professional resources includes regional pay and benefit information, human resources consulting, industry-specific lobbying, grant procurement expertise, purchasing consortia, and custom training. Most importantly, we provide the connection to an extensive network of manufacturing professionals throughout our state, and the country.

Manufacturing is Essential to New York’s Economy.

Manufacturing is the wealth generating sector of the New York economy, contributing over $65 billion annually to the state’s GDP. We rank 6th among the states in total manufacturing employment within a national economy that boasts the largest manufacturing sector in the world. And manufacturing creates growth in other industries too, with every manufacturing job creating 2.5 related jobs in other sectors. And with manufacturing accounting for 2/3 of private sector research and development in the US, it is a crucial element to the success of our national economy as well.

MACNY is also serving many members with low cost energy. Our electricity and natural gas buying groups are providing companies with a bulk buying advantage and reduced cost. MACNY also supports our members in obtaining low cost energy through the ReCharge NY program.
