MACNY Councils

Leverage Your MACNY Membership & Learn By Being Part of Our Various Councils

Considered the “Core of MACNY” by our members, your MACNY membership isn’t complete unless you and your staff take part in our networking councils. These Councils offer members the chance to meet and learn from their peers from hundreds of other Upstate New York companies.

Functioning as “organizations within the organization”, the councils provide valuable forums for members to meet regularly and enjoy the benefits of networking with other professionals to discuss shared experiences and common interests. Part of MACNY’s overall management development program, the councils create opportunities for members to seek cooperative solutions to the challenges of manufacturing, while at the same time improving their skills. And, they have fun. Members rave about our councils.

Each council meets regularly for informative programs and lively conversation. Often, there are guest speakers presenting educational programs and follow-up discussions. Other times, the Councils tour plants, allowing members to explore facilities, processes and management styles of different companies.

MACNY’s councils are just one more benefit of membership. Make the most of your membership and select a council in which to participate and join today.

MACNY has eight regular councils, to assist with your business growth. Please contact us to Join a Council today.

Sr. Leaders Council Formerly known as the Presidents Council
Reserved for the senior leadership of all MACNY members, this council provides an ideal forum for top company officials to share mutual concerns and discuss trends in all aspects of business. Recent topics have included energy solutions and health care.

Factory Managers Council
Eligible for this council are executives who are responsible for the direction and coordination of all manufacturing activities within their companies. Events include dinners, plant tours and shared programs with other councils. This year the Council visited for example Nucor Steel and CXTec's new E-Cycling facility.

Human Resources Council
This council is for HR professionals from member companies. Meeting topics have included skills assessments, addressing diversity and harassment, advanced FMLA and promoting careers in manufacturing.

Plant Engineers Council
This council is geared to people who primarily supervise the maintenance, repair and management of plant equipment and buildings. Members of the Council recently visited Covanta Energy Corp., ESCO Technologies Turbine.

Safety Council
Employees responsible for safety, health and/or environmental issues qualify for this council. The council provides annual safety awards, in conjunction with MACNY’s OSHA Alliance, to recognize best practices in safety. Council members tour plants and also discuss other relevant issues.

Quality Professionals Council
Members registered to either ISO 9000 or QS 9000 standards can become charter members and help fashion the mission and direction of this Council. Participants will share solutions, challenges and approaches to achieving and maintaining their QMS and help create professional development opportunities for others.

Business Development Council
This council consists of those individuals responsible for business growth within the organizations MACNY serves. Professionals from sales, marketing, product development, research and development, and strategic planning share concepts and ideas on best practices in developing business opportunities for their respective companies. The Council’s tag line is simply “Growth”.

Technology Council
Created for IT professionals and executives who plan to use IT solutions, the Technology Council provides seminars and opportunities for sharing best practices, as well as a forum for emerging technologies and the business strategies aligned with them.
