We’re excited to announce Ken Caputo, Plant Supervisor at Selflock Screw Products Co, Inc (SSP) as the 2026 Transformational Leadership Award recipient.

This prestigious honor recognizes leaders who have had a significant impact on the lives of others and exemplifies John Maxwell’s belief that “Everything rises and falls on leadership.” Exceptional leaders do more than drive organization success. They invest in others, create opportunities for growth, and inspire those around them to reach their full potential.

Throughout his career with SSP, Caputo has earned a reputation as a people-focused leader who brings out the best in those around him. His commitment to mentoring employees, sharing his knowledge, and helping others develop their skills exemplifies the qualities recognized by the Transformational Leadership Award.

“Ken’s leadership style is deeply rooted in the principles of servant leadership. He is someone who leads by example, always putting the needs of his team first,” said Sal D’Amelio, President of SSP. “He doesn’t just manage; he mentors and empowers, ensuring that every individual under his guidance has the opportunity to grow and succeed. Ken’s approach aligns closely with the principles championed by John Maxwell, who teaches that great leaders are defined not by the power they hold, but by their ability to empower others.”

Caputo has made a lasting impact on SSP, helping shape its culture and contributing significantly to the organization’s continued success. His impact is best reflected in the employees he has mentored and careers he has helped shape along the way.

“A lot of what I know today started with Ken taking the time to teach me,” said Nicholas Lewis, Project Manager of SSP. “From the day I started as an intern, he made it a priority to mentor me and help me grow. The time and effort he invested in me helped shape both my career and my approach to work.”

Caputo’s journey with SSP began nearly 20 years ago as a Screw Machine Operator. Over the years, he pursued opportunities to further his education through classes and an apprenticeship program, developing new skills, and taking on greater responsibilities. After advancing through several roles, he became Plant Supervisor, where he dedicated himself to mentoring employees and creating opportunities for others to develop their skills and further their careers.

“No matter how long you’ve been doing something, there’s always something new to learn,” said Caputo. “I’ve been fortunate to learn from many people throughout my career, and I’ve always tried to pass those lessons on to others. Helping someone build their skills, gain confidence, and reach their potential has been one of the most rewarding parts of leadership.”

Caputo will be honored Friday, November 6th, at MACNY’s LIVE2LEAD Leadership Retreat presented by Bank of America, in Skaneateles alongside more than 100 supporters, including his family, colleagues from SSP, and fellow MACNY members.
