Program Overview:
Employers operating in New York face a minefield of employment laws and regulations. Navigating your way through this minefield can spare you the expense and hassle of an employee lawsuit. A misstep, be it in hiring, firing, or other employment issues, could cost millions of dollars if you’re sued by a current or former employee. To make sure you develop a comprehensive labor and employment compliance plan, this session provides information on a number of common employment law issues.

Facilitator for both: Michael L. Dodd

Michael L. Dodd graduated magna cum laude from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1985 with a B.A. in Political Science. Mr. Dodd worked for the New York State Assembly for three years where he was responsible for drafting legislation, organizing subcommittee proceedings, and public relations for several State Assembly members. He was then employed as MACNY’s Director of Government from 1988 to 1990 where he was responsible for the development of the Association’s legislative program and its lobbying efforts.

Mr. Dodd graduated cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law in 1993 and was admitted to the Bar of New York State in 1994. His practice focuses primarily on defending employers in discrimination, wage and hour, labor relations and other employment-related claims. He currently serves the Firm in the day-to-day representation and counseling of public and private sector employers. He is a frequent author and speaker on these topics for both state-wide and nation-wide organizations.
