Manufacturers Alliance of New York Hosts 2026 Manufacturing Advocacy Day in Albany
Date: February 25, 2026

“Manufacturers play a vital role in shaping New York’s economic future,” said Randy Wolken, President and CEO of MACNY.“ There are tremendous opportunities ahead for manufacturing in our state, and engagement with policymakers helps ensure that public policy supports investment, innovation, and long-term growth.”
Throughout the morning, more than 60 participants met with state lawmakers at the Legislative Office Building and the Capitol to discuss issues impacting New York’s manufacturing community, including workforce development, energy, economic development, and human resources. Among those advocating for workforce development were graduates of the Real Life Rosies® program, a direct-entry pre-apprenticeship program funded by Empire State Development, New York State Department of Labor, and NSF Energy Storage Engine in Upstate New York that trains women for in-demand careers in manufacturing. The breakfast program featured remarks from Assemblymember Pamela Hunter, a strong and longtime supporter of the Real Life Rosies program, who underscored the importance of investing in workforce development initiatives that create pathways to opportunity.
The day concluded with a lunch at the Fort Orange Club, where John Williams, Chief Policy Officer of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), delivered the keynote address, sharing insights into New York’s energy strategy and its impact on manufacturers.
Leaders from the Manufacturers Alliance spoke to the significance of the day’s advocacy.
“The opportunity for manufacturers to engage directly with elected officials is invaluable,” said Peter Ahrens, Executive Director of the Buffalo Niagara Manufacturing Alliance. “Advocacy Day ensures that the perspectives of Western New York manufacturers are part of a broader statewide conversation during the legislative session.”
“Manufacturing is a vital engine for New York’s economy, creating immense wealth and opportunity for all New Yorkers,” said Johnnieanne Hansen, CEO of The Council of Industry. “Our mission is to ensure state policymakers hear directly from the leaders who invest their capital and expertise into our communities. The Council of Industry is proud to partner with the Manufacturers Alliance of New York to provide this platform, ensuring our state remains a place where manufacturers can innovate, grow, and thrive.”
